The paranormal doesn't easily enter our reality. Or at least, that's how it should be. The world has a solid foundation of sanity, which is why paranormal manifestations from the Other Side are found only in specific locations. The membrane that separates our reality from the Other Side can be weakened by Fear, and various occult groups are willing to do whatever it takes to weaken this membrane and summon entities from the Other Side. Because of this, an organization of paranormal detectives was created: Ordo Realitas.
